Last week, we heard news that Warner Brothers was in final talks to have Robert Pattinson star as the Dark Knight in Matt Reeve's upcoming DC Extended Universe entry, The Batman.
The Twilight actor recently appeared at the Cannes Film Festival to help promote his new film, The Lighthouse, however, when asked by Indie Wire whether he could confirm the report about his casting in The Batman, the 33-year-old actor decided to dodge the subject instead.
"I am only answering questions about The Lighthouse," he said, smiling.
Could Pattinson really be looking at landing the Batman role? While Variety suggests that negotiations between Warner Brothers and Pattinson's camp will close soon, other Hollywood trade publications say that Pattinson is simply on top of the list along with other actors like Armie Hammer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. X-Men's Nicholas Hoult is also being considered for the role.
Right now we can't really tell whether or not Pattinson really is in negotiations for the role. Most fans seem to prefer other stars for the role, like Man from U.N.C.L.E. star Armie Hammer. The actor was actually cast as Batman when George Miller was working on Justice League Mortal back in 2008. The movie, however, never came to light. Taylor-Johnson is also a fan-favorite known for his roles in Godzilla, Kick-Ass, and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Still, if the reports are true, Pattinson could make a good Batman too. Fans may not like the actor for his role in Twilight, but many forget that Pattinson has had a career after the vampire flick.
