Matt Reeves may have been keeping The Batman 2 under wraps, but that didn't mean preparations weren't already underway for Robert Pattinson to return as The Caped Crusader.
In a recent update, Reeves has not only confirmed that the script is done but that the sequel is underway sooner than we think!

It has been nearly four years since The Batman became a blockbuster hit in 2022, and now that the script for Part II is officially done, Matt Reeves couldn't be more ecstatic to spread the news!

"We start shooting [the film] in spring, probably around the end of April or beginning of May," director Matt Reeves told Variety on the Emmys red carpet this week.
"It's been a long journey, but I am so incredibly excited," Reeves added, confirming that The Batman 2 script is finally finished, "I'm really proud of the script me and Mattson [Tomlin] did, and we've started to share it with Robert [Pattinson]."
Considering that it's still top-secret info, Reeves mentioned the lengths they had to go through to ensure that their script got delivered on Pattinson's doorstep without a security breach.
"We put [the script] into a secret pouch that literally has a lock on it with a code," Reeves explained, "[Pattinson] was in New York at the time, and everything is high security."
Reeves also noted that even after finishing the script, Pattinson kept it in the locked pouch, "We really trust Rob, because he's the best."
In other news involving Gotham City, Reeves also confirmed an update about The Penguin's renewal.

The Penguin, which received 24 Emmy nominations and involved Reeves as executive producer and writing supervisor, has been in active conversations about a potential renewal.
"We're in discussions. [Showrunner] Lauren [Lefranc] is thinking hard and we're talking, so we'll see," Reeves said, "We love the show, and we think our cast is incredible. Our passion was in it, but never in our wildest dreams could we imagine it would have been received in the way that it was."
Meanwhile, The Batman 2 is slated to premiere on the big screens on October 1, 2027. Stay tuned.
