New images showing Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom have emerged recently, with fans believing these are “leaked” photos taken from the set of the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday.

However, some say to take these images with a grain of salt and warn the internet to wait for Marvel to release official photos before spreading them.

Alleged Leaked Photos of RDJ’s Doctor Doom is Taking Over the Internet... But Don't Fall For It Yet

The fan-favorite Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU has been eagerly awaited since he announced his comeback as Doctor Doom, and fans have been wondering how the character will appear in Avengers: Doomsday.

In fact, images of the actor wearing Doctor Doom’s armor — with an arc reactor and a green cape while standing — are said to be leaked behind-the-scenes shots that have recently surfaced, and they’ve been driving fans wild.

An X user called The Legacy of Nerd posted the images on the platform, writing the caption: “🚨RUMORED First Look at Robert Downey Jr. as DOCTOR DOOM in Avengers: Doomsday.”

Fans naturally questioned their legitimacy in the comments. One user said, “There is absolutely no way the final product looks anything like this. Zero chance.”

Some pointed out RDJ’s gray hair and the absence of Victor Von Doom’s iconic mask and hood in the photos:

“Why would Doom have Gray hair?😂😭this definitely ain’t real.”

“Why does doctor doom have an arc reactor?

Where the f*** is his mask and hood?”

Others noted the costume’s similarity to Iron Man’s, referencing the popular fan theory that Downey’s Doctor Doom is actually a Tony Stark variant who switched bodies with the villain from the Earth-11029 universe.

“They’re going for the Infamous Iron Man look… except it was Doom being Iron Man not Tony Stark being Doctor Doom, much less being Victor Von Doom 🙄

MCU is at the parody level now…”

“Oh, he’s totally a Tony variant.”

In March, a set of alleged concept art pictures was posted by an official Marvel artist named Mushk Rizvi on ArtStation, including artwork of Doctor Doom.

These now-deleted images not only featured the Latverian monarch but also depicted She-Hulk, Star-Lord, Vision, and Black Panther.

Fans were also surprised to see the Young Avengers included in the concept art, with Billy and Tommy Maximoff, Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan, and Cassie Lang. However, there is no official confirmation that the characters shown in the artwork will appear in the movie.

Robert Downey Jr.’s Birthday Party Photos and Invite Might Have Revealed His Doctor Doom Look for Avengers: Doomsday

Fans may still be waiting for the official reveal of Downey’s look as Doctor Doom, but the actor himself might have already shown his hairstyle and costume for Avengers: Doomsday last week.

On his 60th birthday, an attendee shared a photo on Instagram showing Downey with curly, much longer hair than his Tony Stark character.

Downey also handed out invitations featuring Doctor Doom for his birthday celebration, which was also themed after the sorcerer.

The villain in the artwork is seen wearing a military-style costume. It might just be fan art inspired by the popular Tony Stark variant theory, and the Doctor Doom on Downey’s invite also has a gold mask reminiscent of Iron Man’s helmet—but it might be a spoiler for fans eager to see how his character will appear in the upcoming Avengers installment.
