There is little doubt that the death of Tony Stark was one of the most devastating things about Avengers: Endgame. But is it possible that Iron Man might somehow return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Robert Downey Jr. has just teased on the possibility that we haven't seen the last of his character.
Downey is currently promoting his new film Dolittle and while speaking to Extra, he somehow teased that although he is done with playing Iron Man, he isn't closing the door on the idea of reprising the role.
"Yeah, anything could happen," Downey said before his wife Susan interjected, warning him that his statement would end up becoming the next day's headline (she's not wrong, too).
Downey then took a different direction with his statement. "As far as I'm concerned, I hung up my guns and I'm good to let it go. I also think Marvel is on this journey now and they're trying a bunch of other stuff, and I'm excited for them to see how all that goes. It's hard to project," he said.
It's unclear if Downey had somehow hinted at the possibility that Iron Man could eventually return in the MCU. After all, it was previously reported that he would have a small role in the Disney+ show Marvel's What If ...? although it is still uncertain whether he will play Tony. For now, we'll have to wait for more updates from Marvel.
Downey's new film Dolittle is scheduled for release on January 17.
