James Ransone has sadly died at the age of 46 by suicide. His passing was mourned by his colleagues and friends with whom he worked throughout his acting career.
He played numerous memorable characters in well-known films and TV shows over the years, with some of them ending up being scene-stealers among the audiences.

The Wire
Ransone played the memorable character, Ziggy Sobotoka, Frank's ruthless and immature son who became a prominent figure among the stevedore union and The Greek's crime syndicate.
He was considered to be one of the best parts of the show's second season due to his terrific performance and character arc that made him a standout among the audience. This is also the late actor's breakout role, which led to him getting cast in other major projects after his stint in the series.
Inside Man
Inside Man follows a police detective, a bank robber, and a high-power broker who enter high-stakes negotiations after the criminal's brilliant heist spirals into a hostage situation.
Ransone played the role of Darius Peltz / Steve-O, one of Russell's accomplices in the heist. While he is a supporting character, he still had a memorable presence in the film that proved his talent as a rising actor at that time.

Generation Kill
The HBO miniseries Generation Kill follows a Rolling Stone reporter, embedded with the 1st Recon Marines, who chronicles his experiences during the first wave of the American-led assault on Baghdad in 2003.
This marked Ransone's return to HBO as he played the second lead role of Corporal Josh Ray Person, who is part of the Second Platoon. This is another great showcase of his talent as he managed to stand out among the ensemble of actors.
Sinister
Sinister follows a controversial true-crime writer who finds a box of Super 8 home movies in his new home, revealing that the murder case he is currently researching could be the work of an unknown serial killer whose legacy dates back to the 1960s.
Ransone made a memorable presence as the unnamed deputy that the main character encounters in his journey. At first, his character's motivation was seemingly mysterious, but it became pretty clear, and audiences became endeared to him.

IT: Chapter Two
Set twenty-seven years after their first encounter with the terrifying Pennywise, IT: Chapter Two follows the Losers Club as they have grown up and moved away, until a devastating phone call brings them back.
Ransone was one of the standouts of the film, thanks to his great performance as the adult Eddie Kaspbrak. He became one of the hearts and souls of the film due to the character's memorable arc and heartbreaking fate in the end.

The Black Phone
In The Black Phone, after being abducted and locked in a basement, a boy starts receiving calls on a disconnected phone from the killer's previous victims.
While Ransone's character was not a major part of the story, he still had a key part in the unveiling of the mystery surrounding the Grabber as his connection revealed a shocking truth that shakes up the second half of the film.
