The first Matrix movie from the Wachowskis remains to be a cult hit, and the movie had just hit its 20th anniversary last March. What's interesting is, Dolby Cinema is re-releasing the film in theaters to celebrate a remaster for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Here's the official announcement video:
From the inspiring minds of the Wachowskis, The Matrix re-imagined our world and changed film history with its innovative cinematography and poignant story about humanity and pushing the boundaries of the mind.
Restored in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, exclusively showing in select Dolby Cinema screens this August.
It's also worth noting that this re-release is only going to last a week, so you should probably prepare if you want to catch the screening.
With the Matrix trilogy out, the first film remains to be one of the best regarded of the trilogy. Though the sequels still manage to be visually stunning, they have never really come up to the standard of story that the first movie managed to land.
Now news has it that there are plans to remake the Matrix with Black Panther's Michael B. Jordan. Though Keanu Reeves is the face of the franchise, it's worth noting that the original choice for Neo was Will Smith. With this reboot, it seems that we're finally going to get the originally planned "Black Neo."
No release date has been set for the new Matrix, but you can catch the re-release of the classic in theaters Aug. 30.
