With the show’s release inching ever closer, Kadokawa announced the Re:Zero season 3 90-minute premiere in fall 2024 along with a planned cinema release in Japan.
On top of all this new info, more cast members were revealed, confirming that this new season will be a big one, as it will introduce a bunch of new characters.
Finally, the series will also get an Anime Expo 2024 showcase next month that is sure to delight fans in attendance.
Re:Zero Season 3 Premiere Announced with 90-Minute Broadcast
Even though the gaps between seasons are quite long, Re:Zero continues to be one of the most popular isekai anime. Thus, the latest season has been getting a lot of buzz ever since it was announced back in AnimeJapan 2023.
To further drum up hype for its long-awaited return, Kadokawa announced that the Re:Zero season 3 will get a 90-minute premiere this October.
Along with the feature-length premiere, four new cast members were revealed.
These include Shoya Ishige (Wakana Gojo in My Dress-Up Darling), Kotaro Nishiyama (Kazuhito Narita in Haikyuu), Kenjiro Tsuda (Nanami in Jujutsu Kaisen), and Chika Anzai (Chisato in Lycoris Recoil).
It’s not clear what the format of the 90-minute premiere will be. The broadcast may simply air its first four episodes sequentially, as was the case with Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
Another option is a proper feature-length episode like what Oshi no Ko season 1 did. We don’t have to wait until October to find out though, as the show will hold a North American premiere and a Japanese theatrical release.
Re:Zero Season 3 Cinema Release Happening in August
The Re:Zero season 3 premiere cut is confirmed to have special theatrical screenings in Japan. Of course, as it’s not a proper movie, the screenings will only have a limited two-week run.
There’s no word yet on which cinemas the anime will be screened in, but the theatrical run will likely happen in major Japanese cities such as Tokyo and Osaka.
What is confirmed is that its North American premiere will happen next month at Anime Expo 2024.
Re:Zero Is Also Coming to Anime Expo 2024
To be exact, the show’s 90-minute premiere will be screened at Anime Expo 2024 on July 5, 2024. This screening will also feature an appearance by Subaru voice actor Yusuke Kobayashi.
This will just be one screening, meaning only a select few fans will be able to watch it ahead of everyone else.
For those who won’t be able to attend the event, Re:Zero season 3 will be streamed on Crunchyroll in the US in October 2024.
