- Quick Answer: Quentin Tarantino will publish The Adventures of Cliff Booth on December 8, expanding Brad Pitt's character ahead of Netflix's December 23 spinoff film.
Quentin Tarantino is set to release a new Cliff Booth novel before the premiere of the Netflix movie this December.
The world of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is returning later this year with a new sequel/spinoff movie that will focus on Cliff Booth in the 1970s. Brad Pitt is reprising his Oscar-winning role. While Tarantino did not direct the film, he wrote the script, and David Fincher took over the directorial duty.
However, as it turns out, Cliff Booth will also make his way to the pages.
What Is Quentin Tarantino's Cliff Booth Novel About?

Variety reported that HarperCollins will be releasing a new Quentin Tarantino novel this December titled The Adventures of Cliff Booth.
It will debut in bookstores on December 8, before the release of the film The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth on Netflix on December 23. It will serve as the novelization, but with some slight differences.
The logline reads: "Hollywood, 1977. The Swinging Sixties are long gone—but Clifford Booth keeps on keeping on…War hero, stuntman, bartender, cinema projectionist . . . with the occasional 'clandestine services' for his friends. . . ."
Tarantino said in the statement, "Can’t wait for audiences to see and read Cliff Booth’s further adventures."
The novel will be released in hardcover, although it remains unknown if there will also be a paperback edition. More details might emerge in the coming months.
This will be the second Tarantino novel, following the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood novelization, which was released in 2021.
What to Expect in The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth?
In The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, Brad Pitt returns to his Academy Award-winning role as Cliff Booth, only this time it’s 1977, and it’s a very different Hollywood. The exact plot details are still under wraps.
Directed by David Fincher from a screenplay by Quentin Tarantino, the film also stars Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Timothy Olyphant, and Peter Weller.
It is scheduled for release in IMAX theaters on November 25 for a limited two-week engagement, before arriving on Netflix on December 23.
In an interview last year, Tarantino explained why he decided not to direct the film despite writing the script.
"I love this script, but I’m still walking down the same ground I’ve already walked. It just kind of unenthused me. This last movie, I’ve got to not know what I’m doing again. I’ve got to be in uncharted territory," he said.
