Queen Elizabeth II Officially Ended Princess Diana and Prince Charles' Marriage
Princess Diana had no plans to end her marriage with Prince Charles even after their split. Royal expert Emma Cooper, the global president of non-scripted television at Pulse Films, weighed in on the royal couple's marriage.
"I think that even after the separation in 1992, they still carried on doing engagements. I don’t think Diana ever really wanted to truly give up," she told Us Weekly Tuesday.

"Actually, it was the Queen in the end [that] said, 'You're separated. You need to get divorced.' And I think she never, ever — did she really want to do that? Look, I don’t know. It feels to me from the evidence of all the testimony that we had in her own words, that it was hard for her."
Princess Diana Wanted To Call Prince Charles After Receiving The Divorce Papers
On the day the late Princess of Wales received the divorce papers, she sat on her own in Kensington Palace and told royal correspondent Jennie Bond that she wanted to call the heir apparent. However, she had second thoughts because Prince Charles might think she was being "silly again."
Cooper added that considering Princess Diana's emotional state, she was not somebody who walked out of her marriage without feeling emotional. She added that on that day, Princess Diana was wearing her wedding ring.
"She was photographed with her wedding ring on. So, I don’t think she ran out of that marriage," Cooper added.
Princess Diana Was Aware Of Prince Charles, Camilla's Affair
Cooper admitted that Princess Diana was aware of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles' affair. However, she was constantly told that she was "crazy," "hysterical" and "obsessed.
In a previous interview with Princess Diana, she admitted that she learned about Prince Charles and Camilla's affair when she discovered a parcel containing a bracelet engraved with "G" and "F" which stood for their nicknames Gladys and Fred.

"I was still too immature to understand all the messages coming my way. And then someone in his office told me that my husband has had a bracelet made for her," Princess Diana was quoted by Cosmopolitan as saying. "I was devastated, and I said 'Well, he's going to give it to her tonight.' So rage, rage, rage. You know, 'Why can't you be honest with me?' But no, absolutely cut me dead."
Princess Diana also said in her infamous Panorama interview that her relationship with Prince Charles didn't work because "there were three of us in this marriage" implying the affair.
