Queen Elizabeth and Prince Harry used to be very close. So, the late monarch’s death must have been very hard for the Duke of Sussex. Years ago, when the queen was just 90 years old, Meghan Markle’s husband asked his grandmother to make an appearance in his ad for the Invictus Games.
Queen Elizabeth Thought Recording The Invictus Games Ad With Prince Harry Was Fun
During a previous interview, Prince Harry admitted that he was nervous about asking Queen Elizabeth to make an appearance in the Invictus Games ad. After all, he knew that she was very busy, so he didn’t want to impose on his grandmother. But to his surprise, the queen said yes.
In the book Courtiers: The Hidden Power of the Crown, author Valentine Low revealed that the queen had the best response after sharing the special moment with Prince Harry in front of the camera. A source told the author that the late monarch thought that it was so fun.
“The 40-second video reportedly took only two takes with Harry showing his grandmother the clip in her drawing room at Windsor, where she delivered the response to the Obamas’ challenge with a dry, ‘Oh really…please!’” Low wrote (via Cheat Sheet).

Queen Elizabeth Was A Pro At Appearing In Videos And Only Needed One Take
Prince Harry also made a similar revelation years ago when he detailed how the filming of the Invictus Games ad came about.
While speaking with Hello! magazine, the Duke of Sussex said that the queen only did one take from two angles because she’s a very busy person. But they did not have a hard time recording her lines because she was a pro at it.
“She had great fun. And I think it was almost as though you could see that look on her face, at the age of 90, thinking, ‘Why the hell does nobody ask me to do these things more often?’ She’s so incredibly skilled, she only needs one take,” Prince Harry said.
Queen Elizabeth Said Yes To Prince Harry’s Request Because She Wanted To Support Him
A source also told Low that the queen said yes to Prince Harry’s request because she wanted to support her grandson.
“She was wonderful. She was obviously quite happy with it and wanted to support her grandson. She wanted to support the cause, and was up for having some fun in the process,” the source said.
In the Invictus Games ad, Prince Harry and the queen also shared a hilarious moment with Barack Obama and Michelle Obama.
