Princess Diana is featured in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix docuseries. However, she would not be pleased with their allegations toward the royal family, according to experts.
How Would Princess Diana Feel About Harry & Meghan If She Were Alive?
Several royal experts weighed in on the potential reaction that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's docuseries would draw from his mom, Princess Diana if she were alive. British journalist and investigative reporter Tom Bower believed that she would be appalled by her son's disloyalty.
"Their mother Diana would be appalled by Harry's disloyalty," Bower told Daily Mail. "Not only is that rupture distressing for William and King Charles, but also for the country. The image of warring brothers is terrible for Britain's global reputation."
Did Netflix Sensationalize Sussexes' Claims About Their Security?
Meanwhile, royal author and commentator Richard Fitzwilliams was wondering if Netflix only sensationalized the royal couple's claim about their security. In the latest promo, Markle claimed that "our security was being pulled — everyone in the world knew where we were." Prince Harry added, "I said, 'we need to get out of here.'"
The statement implied that their security had been withdrawn before Megxit. Bower commented that it was "shockingly untrue." Meanwhile, Fitzwilliams felt that if they had issues with their security, then they were not given the proper service as senior royals.
"The charge 'our security was being pulled, everyone in the world knew where we were' implies they were not given proper security as senior working royals before Megxit," Fitzwilliams added.
Princess Diana's Son Claims They Are Victims Of' Institutional Gaslighting'
In the new trailer for the remaining episodes of Harry & Meghan, Prince Harry spoke to the camera and spoke about the different treatment he received compared to his brother Prince William, the heir to the throne.
"They were happy to lie to protect my brother," Prince Harry claimed in the trailer, before adding that he and Markle were the victims of "institutional gaslighting."
"They were never willing to tell the truth to protect us," he added.
There are assumptions that Prince Harry was referring to the monarchy in his statement, Daily Mail noted. Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse in which a person is manipulated into questioning their own sanity and perceptions of reality.
