Princess Anne didn't join the royal family for their first Christmas morning service without the late Queen Elizabeth. However, there was a reason why the Princess Royal didn't make it.
Why Did Princess Anne Skip The Royal Family's Traditional Christmas Service?
The royal family keeps up with their tradition, which includes attending a service on Christmas day. The members of the firm were spotted walking their way to St. Mary Magdalene church, where a crowd of royal fans waited to rub elbows with them.
However, many noticed that Princess Anne was missing. Her two children, Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips were at the church, though.
Apparently, Princess Anne was sick. She had a cold, that was why she didn't make it, Hello! reported.
The outlet noted that she was also missing at Kate Middleton's second annual Christmas concert earlier this month. However, it was unrelated to illness. She wasn't able to join the royals for the Princess of Wales' special event because she attended the London International Horse Show at ExCel London.
The Princess Royal has been among the busiest royals in the past years. She was named the hardest-working royal of 2022. She carried out a total of 214 royal engagements, which was not surprising as she had always been one of the most industrious members of the firm. Her love and dedication to her duty is the reason she has remained an incredibly well-loved member of the British monarch family.
Who Were Present At The Christmas Day Service
Although Princess Anne skipped the event, the members of the royals stuck with the tradition. This year is the first Christmas without Queen Elizabeth, who passed away on Sept. 8.
King Charles and Queen Camilla led the royal party. Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children Prince Louis, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, were also in attendance.
Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were with their respective husbands. Zara Tindall, Mike Tindall and their children Mia and Lena were also there. Peter Phillips also showed up with his two daughters, Savannah and Isla, New Idea reported.

Prince Louis, who made his Christmas walkabout debut, stole the hearts of royal fans. He was caught on camera running with his arm stretched while calling his big sister, Princess Charlotte. The little royal then handed his sister a little bouquet that he had received from the crowd. The sight touched many royal fans.
"Louis loves his big sister!! so wonderful. Let's pray they stick together through life, not like what is happening to Harry and William. Meghan has destroyed that brotherly bond," one commented.
