Prince William is as protective as his younger brother, Prince Harry, when it comes to the love of their lives. According to a documentary, the Duke of Cambridge even invoked a law in the country in a bid to protect his then-girlfriend and now-wife, Kate Middleton.

Prince William Invoked A Law To Protect Kate Middleton
Prince William and Prince Harry observed how the press chased their mom, Princess Diana. So, when the media came after their then-girlfriends, they stepped up to protect them.
Prince William even invoked the law to make sure of Middleton's safety. Kelvin MacKenzie, the former editor of The Sun, spoke with Channel 5 documentary shared what the Duke of Cambridge did for the love of his life.

"If you're William, you'd seen your mother basically pursued down the high street by photographers. That would have left a scar on him, it was certainly having an effect on him," MacKenzie explained per Express.
"He wants to protect her, so he effectively invokes the law, there's a European Court of Human Rights law saying everybody has a right to privacy. And he invoked that on Kate's behalf."
In the documentary Chasing the Royals, the experts discussed how Middleton was hounded by paparazzi on her 25th birthday in 2007. The incident allegedly left Prince William writhing.
According to the reports, 30 paparazzi were waiting outside her Chelsea flat to get a statement. In response to the incident, an "angry Prince William issued a statement to the press to stop harassing his girlfriend."

Prince William Introduced Kate Middleton To The Public Slowly
The Duke of Cambridge took his time with Kate Middleton. They dated for over five years and split twice before he proposed to her. Due to the long wait, Middleton was dubbed "Kate'sWaity Katie."
However, it seemed that Prince William's move proved helpful for Middleton. Royal commentator Camilla Tominey said it was interesting how Middleton was handled in the early days of her dating life with Prince William. He introduced her to public life "very slowly."
"Unlike Princess Diana, who I think felt she was thrown into the deep end," Tominey said. "IĀ think William wanted to avoid the mistakes of the past, that's why it was a very, very slow drip-feeding of Kate to the press and to the public."
Prince Harry Also Made The Same Move To Protect Meghan Markle
Prince Harry did a similar move when the media came after Meghan Markle after learning that they were together. He released a statement on the royal website and said he was "deeply disappointed" about the incident.

"Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle's" safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm," part of Prince Harry's statement read.
"He knows commentators will say this is 'the price she has to pay' and that 'this is all part of the game.' He strongly disagrees. This is not a game - it is her life and his."
