Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle surprised the public with their joint appearance in a walkabout Saturday. It was the first time the foursome was photographed together since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's final royal engagement in March 2020.
Prince William And Prince Harry Show Phenomenal Display Of Unity During Walkabout
Several sources claimed that there was tension between Prince William and Prince Harry. The Sussexes reportedly didn't reach out to the Cambridges and had no plans to meet them, according to an insider who spoke with Omid Scobie. However, that was before Queen Elizabeth passed away Thursday.
"This is a phenomenal display of unity between William and Harry. As an intentional gesture, it implies unity and some bonding prompted by mutual grief," body language expert Judi James told The Sun.
"Arriving and leaving together signals proximity and shared conversations and although there are no overkill displays of hugging or touch, these do look like baby steps that build on Charles’s declaration of love for his youngest son and his wife."
Prince William And Prince Harry Show Mirroring Gestures
Although the Duke of Sussex and Prince of Wales have reportedly not been on speaking terms, the expert noted that there were "intense mirroring rituals" between the two princes. Apparently, the bond between King Charles' sons haven't changed despite the reported years of tension.
"The most telling body language though is the intense mirroring rituals between William and Harry," James continued. "Their poses and gestures are often identical, hinting and strong subliminal bonds that exist despite all the rifts."
Prince William Invited Prince Harry, Meghan Markle To Join Him And Kate Middleton At The Walkabout
Kensington Palace said Prince William invited Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to join him and his wife, Kate Middleton, to greet the onlookers. During the walkabout, the four royals took the flowers and other memorial items left for the late monarch from the crowd.
Prince William thought that the walkabout "was an important show of unity at an incredibly difficult time for the family," a royal source told People.
"It's such an extraordinary historical moment and also a deeply personal one for the family that you'd hope and think that all members of the family would unite and support [the King] especially. And perhaps some of those wounds can be healed in the process."
Many were happy upon seeing the four royals, who have been reported to be feuding. The Sussexes had been estranged from the royal family for years, including the Sussexes.
