Prince Harry expressed concern over Prince William and Kate Middleton's children for experiencing the same fate as him. Princess Charlotte is her older brother Prince George's spare. However, an expert believed she would not go down the same path as her uncle Harry.

In an interview with The Telegraph when Prince Harry was promoting his memoir Spare, he mentioned his concern about the other spares, referring to the Prince and Princess of Wales' children.

Richard Eden, a royal expert and the Daily Mail's Diary Editor, spoke about Princess Charlotte's future in the monarchy in the Palace Confidential newsletter on Feb. 17. "How can the royal family avoid history repeating itself when it comes to Prince George, the heir, and Princess Charlotte, the 'spare'?" he began.
According to Eden, he heard from sources that Prince William and Middleton have certain expectations from Princess Charlotte. They reportedly want her "to grow up with the expectation that she will get a job and not be a full-time royal."
The royal expert suggested that, in his personal opinion, he would prefer Princess Charlotte to serve the monarchy like Princess Anne and Prince Edward, who are still active members of the firm.
