Prince Harry has been talking about his mom and how he is her son. Prince William's brother is seemingly following after their mother. However, Princess Diana's former butler claimed that if the late Princess of Wales were alive, she would not have approved what Prince Harry did to his family and the monarchy.
Princess Diana Would Prefer Prince Harry With The Royal Family?
Princess Diana's former aide, Paul Burrell, who worked with her until her tragic death, weighed in on Prince Harry's decision to turn his back on the monarchy. Meghan Markle's husband had seemingly criticized it when he said in a previous interview that he wanted his family, not the institution.
Burrell said from how he knew Princess Diana, the royal princess would not support Prince Harry's decision.
"I think he's convinced himself that this is the way his mother would want him to go but I could counsel him with that and say, 'your mother was a huge supporter of the royal family,'" Burrell said, per Showbiz CheatSheet.
"She was very proud of you Harry being part of that family and your brother. She always supported the monarchy. She was proud to be a royal princess too, even when she died she was still a princess, Diana, Princess of Wales, and she wanted to continue to support the Crown in anything she did."
Princess Diana Would Never Abandon England
Burrell also clarified that even if Princess Diana travelled or had homes in other countries, she would never abandon England, unlike Prince Harry. When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their royal duties in 2020, they left the country. They spent a few weeks in Canada before they moved and settled in California.
"There is a huge difference between your mother's work and what she wanted in life and yours. Just because she wanted to have a bolthole in Malibu in California to take you and your brother on vacation once or twice a year isn't to say she was about to abandon the country," Burrell continued.
"She never would have abandoned the country. I've got letters that say 'I long to hug my mother-in-law, I know, mama, what it feels like, I understand what it feels like to be queen of this country, I understand your thoughts and feelings,' all very supportive towards the queen."
Do you agree with Burrell that Princess Diana would love Prince Harry to continue his duties and be with the royal family?
