Prince Harry claimed that his brother Prince William was jealous of him. He opened up about the alleged jealousy in his one of his interviews while promoting his book Spare.
Prince Harry Claims Prince William Is Jealous Of His Freedom
The Duke of Sussex referred to Prince William as his "beloved brother" and "archnemesis" in his memoir. During his interview with Michael Strahan for Good Morning America, the host said, "The heir was jealous of the spare."
Prince Harry confirmed.
"Yes, I have more freedom than he has," he responded, according to Showbiz CheatSheet. "His life is planned out for him. I had more flexibility to be able to choose the life that I wanted."
The outlet noted that Princess Diana's former bodyguard, Ken Wharfe, seemingly echoed the same sentiment. However, he pointed to another factor — not Prince Harry's freedom but popularity.
"Harry was the joker of the pair of them, and because of that, [he] was much more popular than his brother," Wharfe told GB News.
"There was a sort of bit of sibling rivalry there. William was slightly jealous of his popularity."
What Did The Royal Experts Say About Prince Harry, Prince William's Relationship?
Several royal experts spoke about the dynamic between the two royal princes in a previous documentary. According to them, Prince Harry wanted to beat his brother.
Princess Diana's former butler Paul Burrell said Prince William was among the reasons Prince Harry was "driven." He claimed that the Duke of Sussex wanted to be as good as the Prince of Wales.
"[Prince Harry] has always been driven because he wanted to beat his brother because his brother seemed to have all the goals, he had all the accolades, and so Harry dug his feet in and wanted to be as good as his brother," he said.

"William was brighter than Harry and would be king one day, how can you compete with that?" Burrell echoed the same sentiment in a recent interview with The Sun.
Emily Andrews, royal corresponded of The Sun, also noted the princes' competitive side. She remembered seeing them shoving each other while playing football and tackling each other to the ground in a game of rugby.
Andrews also noted the royal trio — Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry — engaging in a 100-meter race. She recounted Prince Harry dashing to win and forgetting that his sister-in-law was part of the competition because he just wanted to "beat his brother."
