Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made several statements against the royal family. The most recent attack was from the Duke of Sussex's book Spare. One royal expert weighed in on how the memoir would have affected Queen Elizabeth if she were alive.
Prince Harry's Spare Would Not Affect Queen Elizabeth Just Like Princess Diana's Interview?
Royal expert Christopher Anderson spoke with Us Weekly about the Queen's possible reaction. According to him, she would respond in the same manner when Princess Diana decided to do interviews.
Anderson said Queen Elizabeth would stick to her mantra to "keep calm and carry on."
"She would've probably taken some action just as she did with Diana," he added.
Queen Elizabeth wrote a personal letter to King Charles and Princess Diana asking them to divorce after three years. Prince William and Prince Harry's parents divorced after 15 years of marriage. She died a year later.
Anderson also pointed out how Queen Elizabeth put her foot down when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex proposed to serve the monarchy half-time.
"[Queen Elizabeth] certainly is the person who began all of this the minute she would not allow a part-time royal situation," he explained. "She could have; she could have made all the accommodations for the Sussexes they wanted."
"She chose not to do that. Because you're either all the way in or you're out. She had no qualms about taking away [Harry's] military ranks, his ceremonial ranks, which was really a devastating blow to him."
King Charles Could Reportedly Forgive Prince Harry, Meghan Markle
Meanwhile, royal expert Tom Bower said the current monarch might forgive his youngest's son's deceit and treachery. The British journalist and investigative reporter reportedly hosted a private dinner with his friends at Clarence House and allegedly told them he preferred to "shy away from the bitter battle."
"No one knows better than Charles that Harry has barely scratched the surface when it comes to his tumultuous marriage to Diana, his difficult relationship with his own parents and his adulterous relationship with Camilla. The embattled King knows he has good reason to fear his son," the Revenge author wrote in Daily Mail.
However, Prince William might reportedly not cooperate with his plans for reconciliation because the Prince and Princess of Wales "have borne the brunt of the Sussexes' attacks."
