Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly invited to King Charles' coronation. However, their attendance remains unclear. One royal expert claim they might skip the event as they are unlikely to face another round of humiliation in the U.K.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Still Leaking Wounds From Platinum?
British journalist and royal author Christopher Andersen weighed in on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's attendance at King Charles' coronation. He suggested that they might "opt out."
He told Express this about the royal couple possibly skipping the big royal event.
"It's increasingly beginning to look as if Harry and Meghan might well opt out of the Coronation. There are genuine security concerns, to be sure, and then there is the prospect of the Sussexes being roundly booed."
The royal expert continued:
"Harry and Megan are still licking their wounds over having been sidelined during the Queen's funeral. It's highly doubtful that they would be willing to face the prospect of that sort of public humiliation again, particularly on Archie's birthday."
What Happened To Prince Harry, Meghan Markle During The Platinum Jubilee?
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex received intense backlash during their return to the United Kingdom following their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.
The Queen also decided to limit the royals who would be joining her on the balcony to those who were active in serving the monarchy, so the Sussexes didn't make balcony appearances.
However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle joined the National Service of Thanksgiving in honor of Queen Elizabeth at St. Paul's Cathedral. It was their first public engagement after they stepped down from their royal duties.
The couple was booed when they were leaving the church following the service. Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton received cheers from the crowd, Fox News Digital reported.
Several netizens reacted to the incident on Twitter. Some of them felt that they only got what they deserved after dissing the royal family in their interview with Oprah.
"Harry and Meghan were just booed at the Queen's Jubilee. This was well deserved. They are disgusting," one person opined.
"Prince Harry and Meghan got a mix of boos and cheers when they arrived at St. Paul's Cathedral. Prince Charles and Camilla, and Prince William and Kate were greeted at St. Paul's Cathedral with only cheers," another tweeted. "Harry and Meghan's actions have consequences as they do for all of us: 'B list.'"
