Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had reportedly missed the deadline to RSVP for King Charles' coronation. Their lack of action wasn't received well by some experts.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Called Self-Obsessed
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced in March that they received an official invite to King Charles' coronation. However, they haven't confirmed their attendance at the event.
Those who received the invite were given until April 3 to confirm whether they would attend or not. Prince Harry and Markle seemed to have not made up their minds yet, as they reportedly did not respond to the invitation.
Royal commentator Rafe Heydel-Mankoo criticized the royal couple for allegedly turning the "hugely important ceremonial event" into "a soap opera."
He said, per Sky News:
"It's absolutely rude. This is really quite narcissistic because at the end of the day, this is about celebrating the king."
He continued:
"I think that Harry and Meghan seem to be confusing the coronation with coronation street - but this isn't a soap opera - it's a hugely important ceremonial event. Harry and Meghan are just showing the world how childish, self-centered and self-obsessed they are."
He also accused the couple, who are already based in California, of a "shameful publicity ploy." He speculated that they are milking on the event because they are becoming irrelevant.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Snubbed The King's Invite?
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are invited to his father's coronation on May 6. However, sources claimed that they haven't responded to the invite.
An anonymous source told The Mirror:
"[They] have not responded to an official invitation by the king, although rumors of their demands to be included on the balcony are said to be 'wide of the mark,' according to Palace insiders."
In a previous report from Epicstream, Prince Harry's biographer, Angela Levin, speculated that they might skip the event due to unfulfilled demands. Prince Harry reportedly wanted the royals to apologize to them and let his family join them on the balcony. However, the royal family is reportedly not giving in to their whims.
Levin said that "none of that has worked." Nobody is reportedly interested in the Sussexes. The Harry: A Biography of a Prince author believed that the couple was furious about the turn of events.
