Warner Bros.
The first trailer for Detective Pikachu has hit the webs this week, and Pokemon fans are surprised to see the franchise's live-action debut. If you paid attention to the clip, you'd notice a familiar character from the Pokemon animated series.
And no, it's not the Pikachu voiced by Ryan Reynolds. It's the same Jigglypuff from the original Pokemon anime. The trailer features a variety of Pokemon creatures and a Jigglypuff is seen on the table with its curly pink hair and this particular Pokemon looks angry with its scrunched up face.
Those who are familiar with the anime would notice that this is the same character that debuted in The Song of Jigglypuff episode. Brock was able to save its melodic voice but after getting its voice back, it sang but the tune put everyone to sleep, so the Pokemon became angry since no one listened to their song, so Jigglypuff took one of Ash's markers and drew on everyone.
Official synopsis:
Detective Pikachu is set to release in theaters on May 10, 2019.
