In case you haven't been keeping up with the latest Disney news, the upcoming live-action Peter Pan reboot titled Peter Pan & Wendy starring Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson in the titular roles has found its Tinkerbell in Grown-ish actress Yara Shahidi. The House of Mouse's casting choice garnered mixed reactions from fans with a lot of them getting disappointed over the decision to cast a black Tinkerbell, a role that is traditionally played by a white actor.

Now, all controversy aside, if ever you were wondering how a modern-day Tinkerbell would look like, then wonder no more. Artist @apexform on Instagram just gave Shahidi an enchanting transformation as one of Peter's trusty allies but the artist made sure that the volume was turned up to 11. His take on the character looks totally different from what we're all used to and appears to be more elf-like. I wouldn't exactly call it a welcome change but it definitely daring and takes a lot of getting used to. Check it out here:

The folks over at Disney continue to push forward in championing their campaign for "diversity" in the film industry even if the controversial casting decisions and changes they make actually compromise the origins of some of their beloved characters. But hey, we shouldn't act all that surprised anymore as they've literally been doing this for quite some time now. Again, Shahidi's Tinkerbell will take a lot of getting used to especially for those who grew up with the classic Peter Pan animated film but I guess sometimes, a little change is okay to keep things fresh. It's set in stone anyway and no amount of backlash will ever stop Disney from continuing the project. At this point, just sit back, relax, and let them take care of the job.

Shahidi previously appeared in her own film The Sun Is Also a Star opposite Charles Melton.
