Meeting Dakota Johnson was something Pedro Pascal would remember even years later. However, the same could not be said for the actress, as she couldn't recall anything from that moment.

The two, who both appear in the upcoming film Materialists, shared the story of their first interaction in a cover interview with Elle UK.

Pedro Pascal is known to be at the prime of his acting career and, over the past decade, has worked with stars such as Nicolas Cage, Denzel Washington, Matt Damon, and others.

Now, he’s starring alongside Academy Award nominee Dakota Johnson in the romantic comedy Materialists.

Their on-screen chemistry might be on point, but Pascal apparently failed to make a lasting impression on his co-star when they first met.

Pascal interviewed Johnson for the cover story of Elle UK, and when the topic of their first encounter came up, their answers couldn’t have been more different.

"According to whose truth? Do you want your story or my story?" Johnson asked, implying they had gone over this before.

Pascal simply replied with, "According to the truth?"

She revealed that Pascal claims they first met at the Met Gala in 2019, to which he responded, "That was the second time."

Johnson then joked that they actually first met on Raya, earning a laugh from the Last of Us actor.

Pascal went on to share that their real first meeting happened at the Golden Globes in 2014, during the after-party.

"You knew Sarah and so met me, and you were on your own,” Pascal recalled. “They probably wouldn’t give you a plus one. So, we banded together, and we looked after you."

Johnson noted how "crazy" it was that she had no memory of meeting him there.

Pascal admitted he "loved" Johnson at that event and confessed he was "hurt" when he realized she didn't remember their interaction.

"I didn’t think you were that nice to me at the Met Gala. You weren’t mean, but I was building the interaction on having already met you. And I had a moment of feeling a little stupid because it was like, 'Oh, she doesn’t remember me.'"

Johnson described the event as feeling like an episode of The Twilight Zone, where she felt as if she had fallen into a "vortex," unsure of what was happening or how to engage with anyone.

She also mentioned that this was the "37th time" Pascal had recounted the story, and every time he did, she felt like “an absolute piece of shit.”

"My first impression of you was: 'Wow, this guy is so cool. What a nice man that I’ve definitely never met before.' And then I loved you very quickly," she said earnestly.

Materialists: What Is It About and When Is It Coming Out?

From the makers of Everything Everywhere All at Once and The Spectacular Romance, A24 will be bringing a new film for romance fans this June.

Created by Oscar nominee Celine Song, Materialists features three of Hollywood’s biggest stars: Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans.

The story centers on an ambitious matchmaker named Lucy, played by Johnson, who finds herself torn between everyone’s dream match, Randy (Pascal), and his imperfect ex, John (Evans).

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 13, though there are rumors it might be screened at the Cannes Film Festival a month earlier.

Materialists is Song’s second feature, following her critically acclaimed Past Lives, which also told a love triangle story, starring Greta Lee, Teo Yoo, and John Magaro.
