Peacemaker Season 2 will be part of the new DC Universe and will continue after the recently released Superman, with six actors from the first DCU movie confirmed to return.
According to DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn, the DCU plans to revamp some storylines and characters, expanding on the foundation created by the DC Extended Universe—especially elements from The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker.
As the John Cena-led series is set to help solidify the DCU’s official storyline, here are the six Superman actors who will help make that happen.
Guy Gardner / Green Lantern
Nathan Fillion will once again appear as the abrasive yet loyal Guy Gardner / Green Lantern in Peacemaker Season 2.
Gardner serves as the face of Maxwell Lord’s (Sean Gunn) Justice Gang on Earth. Although the group initially clashes with Superman due to Lex Luthor’s (Nicholas Hoult) misleading claims, they ultimately team up with him to stop the villain’s threat and protect Jarhanpur.
In the series, Gardner is featured in a recruitment scene for the team, where he roasts Chris Smith, aka Peacemaker, as the latter tries to join their ranks
Hawkgirl
Joining Fillion is Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl in Peacemaker Season 2. Also a member of the Justice Gang, she initially refused Lois Lane’s (Rachel Brosnahan) plea to help save Superman.
Fortunately, she later had a change of heart and played a key role in defending Earth from President Vasil Ghurkos’s (Zlatko Burić) Boravian invasion.
In the series, Hawkgirl is part of the recruitment team interrogating Peacemaker. As she teams up with Green Lantern, fans can look forward to their memorable encounter with Cena’s character.
Maxwell Lord
Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn) may have had only a brief appearance in Superman, but it was certainly impactful.
“The one thing that both the left and right can agree on is that Lex Luthor sucks,” he declared as he stepped out of a LordTech-branded limo in front of the half-built Hall of Justice—making his rivalry with the tech magnate and schemer unmistakably clear.
Returning in Peacemaker Season 2, Lord will be part of the trio—alongside Green Lantern and Hawkgirl—tasked with questioning Peacemaker’s intentions as he tries to join the Justice Gang.
Rick Flag Sr.
Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) played a significant role in the government’s response to Superman’s intervention in the Boravian-Jarhanpurian War.
Though cautious, he still placed shows his faith in the Man of Steel, describing his actions as “naïve, maybe, but well-intentioned” during a meeting with Lex Luthor at the Pentagon.
By the film’s end, Flag observes the Justice Gang thwart the Boravian invasion, signaling the rising influence of metahumans in global affairs.
This political backdrop paves the way for Flag’s return in Peacemaker Season 2—though this time, the conflict becomes deeply personal following the death of his son at Peacemaker’s hands.
Otis and Sydney
Two of LuthorCorp’s lackeys have also been confirmed to return in Peacemaker Season 2. Eagle-eyed fans spotted Otis (Terence Rosemore) and Sydney (Stephen Blackehart) alongside Flag Sr. in a previously released featurette for the HBO Max series.
Otis, known as Luthor’s dimwitted henchman, and Sydney, his sharp-witted lieutenant, were both taken into custody following their boss’s arrest.
Now that Flag Sr. is leading A.R.G.U.S., it’s possible he recruited the pair to work off their sentences in exchange for freedom in the upcoming season.
But with their return, one has to wonder—does Peacemaker have deeper ties to Luthor?
