In the most unsurprising Marvel news in years, X-Men actor Patrick Stewart is hopping back in the chair for Deadpool 3. With Deadpool and Wolverine set to properly introduce Fox’s long-running X-Men franchise into the MCU, Stewart is said to be returning to the role one, or maybe two, more times as the iconic Charles Xavier.
Is Patrick Stewart in Deadpool and Wolverine?
According to a report by Deadline, Patrick Stewart will have a role in Deadpool and Wolverine. However, Deadline’s claims were quickly rescinded without any clarification, although it’s very unsurprising to hear about the actor’s return to the franchise.
In the original report, Deadline claimed: “Coming off reprising his signature Star Trek role in Star Trek: Picard, Stewart will next be seen reprising another popular character, Professor X, in Deadpool & Wolverine.”
With Deadpool & Wolverine also featuring the return of Hugh Jackman as Logan, Aaron Stanford as Pyro, Tyler Mane as Sabretooth and Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Stewart’s return is completely in line with the rest of the movie. After all, the movie is even pulling in Ray Park as Toad.
Patrick Stewart’s Xavier Career
Since the first X-Men movie released in 2000, Patrick Stewart has frequently reprised his role as Charles Xavier. Despite dying mid-way through X-Men: The Last Stand, the iconic actor has returned in multiple films, including Days of Future Past and Logan.
Stewart’s most recent reprisal of the mutant leader occurred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Stewart played a new version of Charles Xavier inspired by the classic X-Men ‘97 cartoon. As a member of The Illuminati, this version of Xavier helped defeat the Mad Titan Thanos but was killed by Scarlet Witch.
With Stewart’s past in mind, we entirely expect the actor to play Charles Xavier again in the future, whether that’s in Deadpool & Wolverine or the upcoming Secret Wars movie.
Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled to release worldwide on July 25, 2025.
