Pachinko brought home a prestigious award from the 28th Critics Choice Awards.
The annual Critics Choice Awards held this year’s ceremony in Los Angeles, California, on Jan. 15. The Korean TV and film industry dominated the nominees’ list, with Pachinko securing a spot in the Best Foreign Language Series category alongside Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
Pachinko successfully brought home an award and continued South Korea’s streak in the ceremony.

Pachinko Wins Big at Critics Choice Awards
Pachinko reached a huge achievement at the 28th Critics Choice Awards after winning the Best Foreign Language Series award at the ceremony.
It bested Extraordinary Attorney Woo and other nominees, including 1899, Borgen, Garcia! The Kingdom Exodus, Kleo, My Brilliant Friend and Tehran. It followed the success of Parasite, Minari and Squid Game, which won the same award from 2020 to 2022, respectively.

Pachinko is a hit Apple TV+ series based on the novel of the same name written by Manhattan-based author and journalist Min Jin Lee. It explores the life of Sunja, who grew up in a challenging environment, as she encounters a devastating fate amid the Korean and Japanese clash.
Oscar-winning Youn Yuh Jung, rookie actress Kim Min Ha, Devs and Love Life star Jin Ha, Japanese–New Zealander actress Ana Sawai, Lee Min Ho and more joined the series’ cast members.
Will Pachinko Have Season 2?
Amid its continuous success, the streaming platform confirmed Pachinko season 2. Apple TV+ announced in April that Pachinko would continue its story in its new season.
“Words cannot express my joy in being able to continue telling the extraordinary story of this indomitable family,” showrunner Soo Hugh said. “I’m grateful to the amazing team at Apple and Media Res studio for believing in and supporting this show and to our passionate fans who have cheered us on. It’s an honor to be able to continue working with this amazing cast and crew.”
Hugh revealed it would have four seasons. However, as of press time, only season 2 is confirmed.
