Following in the footsteps of YOASOBI’s Idol, the second season of Oshi no Ko has a new opening song fitting for the intense story of the Tokyo Blade Arc.
With the intense acting competition between Kana and Akane underway, not to mention Aqua’s continuous search for Ai’s lover, Oshi no Ko season 2 deserves an intense and edgy opening song to hype the viewers!
What’s the Title of Oshi no Ko Season 2’s Opening Song?
The title of Oshi no Ko season 2’s opening song is Fatale, which refers to “loss arising from an inevitable accident.”
Fittingly, Aqua and Ruby lost their mother at an early age due to a stabbing incident that claimed her life.
This loss fueled Aqua’s motivation to get revenge on the people who drove their mother to misery, while Ai’s death motivated Ruby to follow her dreams and become an idol.
Oshi no Ko S2 Opening Song Lyrics
Lyrical Nonsense provides the English translations for Oshi no Ko season 2’s opening song lyrics, and it reminds us of Ai’s tragedy, Aqua’s fight for revenge, and the other characters’ thirst for approval:
You gave me a fatal deficiency
A selfish giant star, a distorted life
Please, let me hear your voice, let me hear your voice
Even the twisted, entangled wounds
You were the only one who gave them to me, only you
I’ll use even the pain engraved in my destiny as a weapon
To illuminate even past regrets
These lyrics almost seem like a love song to all the characters, particularly those who were affected by the loss of Ai Hoshino in the series.
It also reflects the feelings of longing, which fittingly describes Ruby and Aqua's unfortunate situation.
Who Performs Oshi no Ko Season 2’s OP?
The opening song of Oshi no Ko season 2 is performed by GEMN, a new unit made up of Kento Nakajima and Tatsuya Kitani (Bleach: TYBW OP1, Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 OP1).
Interestingly, fans thought that GEMN was directly related to Oshi no Ko, as GEMN possibly translates to the zodiac sign Gemini but without the letter i.
Since Gemini is associated with twins, fans relate it to Oshi no Ko’s twins, Ruby and Aqua, and the absence of the letter i in GEMN to Ai’s death in the series.
Coincidentally, GEMN also has the letters “GEM” in their name, which could be related to Ruby and Aqua being actual names of gems.
