A mysterious figure made a surprise appearance near the end of Only Murders in the Building season 4 finale that seemingly sets up the next season.
It's not new for the hit Hulu series to end each season with a tease of the storyline for the next season and recruit a well-known actor to play the mysterious character who might play a big role in the future.
Who Plays Sofia Caccimelio in Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Finale?
Sometime after Oliver and Loretta's wedding, Mabel and Charles were approached by a mysterious figure named Sofia Caccimelio who asked for their help.
Sofia Caccimelio is played by no other than Madam Secretary star Téa Leoni, making her TV comeback years after the hit CBS series ended.
Leoni's character wanted to hire the trio to investigate her missing husband. The police claimed that he had died, but Sofia believed that he was still alive somewhere. She also said that he has a connection to the Arconia.
However, Mabel and Charles refused to take the case. Sofia left them her contact number in case they changed their mind.
Soon after, the trio found the corpse of Arconia's doorman Lester in the courtyard's fountain. They were horrified by their discovery and called 911.
What Does This Mean for Only Murders in the Building Season 5?
It is clear from the introduction of Sofia Caccimelio that she is being set up as a major figure in season 5 of Only Murders in the Building.
While Mabel and Charles refused to take the case for now, there is no doubt that they will contact Sofia and try to find out whether her missing husband may have some connection to the death of Lester.
After all, they cast Leoni for a reason and they likely have her signed on to the series for the fifth season where she will be one of the major stars that are going to be part of the mystery of the season.
For now, fans should anticipate the release of Only Murders in the Building season 5 likely next year to find out how Sofia will play out in the story of the season.
