Yet another isekai is coming this year as the No Longer Allowed in Another World anime just revealed its July 2024 release via a new trailer.
Along with the release date window and trailer, the anime also revealed its main voice cast, which consists of four notable names.
Perhaps the most interesting thing about it is its story. That’s because this anime promises to be quite different from the more common power fantasy isekai with an OP protagonist.
All You Need to Know About No Longer Allowed in Another World’s Story
No Longer Allowed in Another World is a new anime that’s based on an ongoing isekai manga that’s serialized in Yawaraka Spirits.
Yes, this isekai series is a rare one as it began as a manga instead of starting as a light novel. In that sense, it’s similar to Uncle from Another World.
This series follows a melancholic author from 1948 Japan called Sensei, who wishes nothing more than to die. Soon, he finds himself transported into a video game-like world with cute girls as companions.
Despite this, Sensei still wishes to find the perfect death, though his attempts don’t end up as planned.
This series is a dark-yet-comedic take on the isekai genre. What’s more, the protagonist Sensei is none other than Osamu Dazai, the renowned Japanese author who wrote the classic No Longer Human.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Dazai has been featured in an anime. The author is also a major character in Bungou Stray Dogs.

No Longer Allowed in Another World Japanese Voice Cast Revealed
Voicing Sensei/Osamu Dazai is Hiroshi Kamiya, the popular Japanese VA who is best known for voicing Levi in Attack on Titan and Trafalgar Law in One Piece.
Joining Kamiya is Rumi Okubo (Mem-cho in Oshi no Ko) as Annette and Sayumi Suzushiro (Nijika in Bocchi the Rock!) as Tama.
Rounding out the main cast is Makoto Koichi as Nir. She is the VA of Sakura Otome in Lycoris Recoil and Kei Uomi in Shangri-La Frontier.
No Longer Allowed in Another World Anime Gets July 2024 Release
Animating this series is AtelierPontdarc, the studio behind Uncle from Another World and Ganbare Douki-chan.
As for its staff, the team is led by director Shigeki Kawa, who also directed Uncle from Another World. Meanwhile, the series’ screenplay is written by Yasuhiro Nakanishi of Kaguya-sama: Love is War fame.
No Longer Allowed in Another World will be released in July 2024. Currently, there’s no word yet on a specific release date or a streaming platform partner outside of Japan.
