Taron Egerton has shot down the possibility of taking over the role of James Bond in the next installment of the franchise.
The Kingsman star is one of the several actors that fans have been waiting to see play the new 007 in the next movie that Denis Villeneuve will direct. After all, he has the track record of starring in action movies and a reputation for having a charismatic presence as a lead actor, which is seen as a criterion for the next James Bond.
Is Taron Egerton Open to Playing the Next James Bond?

In a recent interview with Collider, Egerton was asked whether he is open to playing James Bond in the next installment under the direction of Villeneuve.
He admitted that he is not interested in taking over the role as he is "too messy" for the role, and he is currently not interested in playing the character at this point in his career.
"I think I’m too messy for that. I think I’m not [the right fit]— I really love James Bond and particularly Daniel Craig’s tenure. But I think I wouldn’t be good at it, and I think there’s so many cool, younger actors who would be great for it. I think it would be wasted on me, probably," Egerton said.
The actor added that taking the 007 role would be "quite an undertaking" for him at this point, and he is more interested in taking challenging roles.
Egerton said, "As far as I’m aware, nobody’s asking me to do it. But also, it’s possibly not quite the thing that would make me happiest. It kind of consumes your life, a role like that."
What Fans Should Expect from Bond 26?
Earlier this year, Amazon MGM Studios officially took over the creative control of the James Bond franchise from Eon Productions.
Amy Pascal and David Heyman have been hired to serve as producers of the next 007 movie, while Villeneuve has been tapped to direct the installment and also serve as an executive producer.
No actor has been cast yet to play the role of James Bond, but fans online have been suggesting different names who could potentially take over the iconic character in its new era.
Since Villeneuve is still busy with Dune: Part Three, it might take a while before fans hear more news and updates regarding the progress of James Bond's highly anticipated return.
