Finally, after months of waiting, the exact release date for NieR: Automata Ver1.1a season 2 has been confirmed.

In an announcement on its official website and X (formerly Twitter) account, NieR: Automata Ver1.1a season 2 is set to drop its first episode on July 5, 2024, as part of the summer 2024 lineup.

To tease fans even more, the staff of the series finally unveiled the full key visual (above), which they had been releasing in three different segments since the announcement.

The full visual is drawn by character designer and chief animation director Jun Nakai.

Previously, NieR: Automata Ver1.1a season 2 was confirmed by Square Enix and Platinum Games in July 2023.

The first visual of NieR: Automata Ver1.1a season 2 was then released, confirming that the new season was slated to premiere sometime in 2024.

The official YouTube channel of Aniplex Japan started streaming a trailer video titled Promotion File 11, which previewed the opening theme song, Black Box by LiSA.

The opening song is signature LiSA, as it is upbeat and emotional, capable of hyping viewers from the very beginning of the series.

As the action and drama intensify in NieR: Automata Ver1.1a season 2, Black Box is a perfect stimulant to prepare viewers for yet another adrenaline-pumping season.

In the announcement video for NieR: Automata Ver1.1a season 2, the 44-second teaser trailer shares a glimpse of what will possibly go down in the new season.

The trailer shows the commander reading a declaration about the next phase of the war against the machine lifeforms.

Throughout the trailer, glimpses of 2B and 9S battling the machines are shown. Intriguing shots also show Devola and Popola in a precarious situation, hinting at their potential development in NieR: Automata Ver1.1a season 2.
