Nicole Kidman recently opened up about the real reason why she decided to join the cast of Batman Forever.

The Oscar-winning actress notably played Batman's love interest Dr. Chase Meridian in the Val Kilmer-led installment. Around this time, she was slowly becoming one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood.

Years later, she had another rodeo in the DC universe as she also played Arthur Curry's mother Queen Atlanna in the DCEU's Aquaman films.

In a recent interview, Kidman addressed her role as Dr. Chase Meridian in Batman Forever and revealed why she decided to join the film around that time.

She explained that it had nothing to do with the paycheck and she just wanted to kiss Batman on the screen.

"Everyone’s like, ’Why are you doing that?’ I’m like, ‘Because I get to kiss Batman!’" the Oscar winner said.

"The thing people don’t understand is, it’s not about the check. A lot of mainstream big blockbusters that I do are hopefully different."

When it comes to her Aquaman role, Kidman initially thought that director James Wan approached her to do a horror movie and she hopes that her involvement in the DCEU films will lead to a "hardcore horror" role.

"I’d really want to work with him in horror," she said of the Aquaman director. "I’ve not done classic horror yet. Hardcore horror. I’m putting it out there because I watch hardcore horror. I’m a fan of [MaXXXine director] Ti West!"

Kidman's comments about her Batman Forever role might be surprising for many fans since some of them have thought that she joined the film for the sake of getting a big paycheck or wanting to be part of a major blockbuster.

As it turns out, it was part of the actress' personal goal in her career at that time and she was actually willing to play the Caped Crusader's love interest, which ended up becoming a breakthrough role for her to mainstream audiences around that time in her career.
