- Quick Answer: Amazon hasn't officially renewed Spider-Noir for season 2, but star Nicolas Cage confirmed early creative talks are exploring taking Ben Reilly's story international
Fresh off the highly praised binge-drop of Spider-Noir season 1 on Prime, fans are already clamoring to know if Nicolas Cage's grizzled detective will return. While Amazon and Sony Pictures Television have not yet handed down an official renewal notice, Cage himself has dropped the biggest hint yet that the studio will keep the cameras rolling.
Spider-Noir Star Has Reason to Believe There Will Be a Season 2

The first season of Spider-Noir may have just been released this week, but that doesn't stop fans from wondering about the possibilities of a second season. Nicolas Cage confirmed that he has heard "inklings" of where his titular character, Ben Reilly's next chapter could take him that would pay homage to noir classics.
"[To] see how he interacts with different cultures and different countries, whether it's South America or Asia or Europe. That could have some richness to it," Cage revealed, seemingly noting that season 2 could head into nostalgic realms of yesteryear classics.
When asked how Cage deep-dived into Ben, the Oscar-winning actor explained he went straight to Howard Hawks' The Big Sleep when it came to thinking about his character's voice, rhythm, and dry amusement in the face of danger.
"Howard Hawks always has this kind of fast-paced repartee, and specifically in The Big Sleep. I wanted to bring that old movie star style of acting from the '30s and '40s," Cage continued, "Bogart's character in that had this marvelous bemusement when he would see somebody doing something naughty that he would find it amusing, and he would start laughing right in the other actor's face, like, 'This is so wonderful that you're this wicked,' and I wanted to bring that energy to Ben Reilly."
Cage expressed gratefulness that he was able to build this character and "dig a little deeper" across an eight-episode canvas rather than a standard film runtime: "I had the luxury of time to dig a little deeper and explore what really interested me, which is that sort of arachnid DNA and how that would affect his body language and his thoughts, and all that was peppered throughout, like little seeds being planted to blossom throughout the episodes."

What Fans Can Expect From a Spider-Noir Season 2

Considering that there are still some loose ends worth revisiting in Spider-Noir season 2 and its growing popularity on the streamer, Ben Reilly's return would not only expand its universe but also provide a sharper focus on the character, as well.
While Cage is already teasing where season 2 could take Ben, the bigger question might be what Ben could need from The Spider.
When asked whether Ben hates the mask or is afraid that he needs it, Cage kept the answer open-ended, "Well, it could be both. I hesitate to answer your question because that's really up to the audience, whatever they want to get from that, and any answer I give you would impinge on that."
It remains uncertain for now what Spider-Noir season 2 could hold for fans, but given Ben's unstable powers in the first season, there's a chance the second season would help him connect with the superpowered side of his reality.
Meanwhile, fans can binge-watch all 8 episodes of Spider-Noir season 1, colored or in black and white, on Prime Video. Stay tuned!
