New Star Wars: Episode IX Set Photos Hint At A Connection To Return Of The Jedi

Lucasfilm might be keeping details about Star Wars: Episode IX under wraps, however fans have been busy building theories out of leaked images and videos taken from the set of the upcoming Star Wars movie. One of the most recent batch of images from Episode IX has gotten fans talking, and according to the fanbases speculation, we might actually get to see a few elements of Return of the Jedi in the sequel to The Last Jedi.

Making Star Wars just recently posted a set of images showcasing Episode IX environments under construction. While work is still clearly being done on the sets, fans have started comparing the designs to Endor believing that viewers might be able to see a skirmish similar to the Ewok-filled battle in Return of the Jedi.

According to We Got This Covered, another theory tied to the pictures stipulates that the latest batch of leaked images from Making Star Wars may somehow be linked with the scenes that John Boyega has been filming in Jordan. Apparently director J.J. Abrams has this habit of filming his scenes in a linear order, and it seems like Episode IX's production might move from Jordan to the environments being built at Pinewood Studios.

Sure, the jungle setting of the new photos might seem like a long jump from the Jakku-like scenery of Wadi Rum, however, it isn't hard to imagine Abrams jumping into another scene for Episode IX.

Let's just cross our fingers and wait and see.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
