It's been some time since we got an update about HBO's new fantasy series His Dark Materials. Luckily, the new trailer for the show offers a better feel of what we can look forward to later this year.
The trailer opens with a brief yet ominous exchange between Lord Asriel (James McAvoy) and Lyra Belacqua (Dafne Keen). "You once asked me what evil was," Lord Asriel says to his niece. Unfortunately, we don't get to find out in the teaser. Instead, we're treated to a strange line courtesy of Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson).
"In every child's nightmare, there's an element of truth," she says as it is revealed that children are being stolen. "This is war," Farder Coram (James Cosmo) declares as Lee Scoresby (Lin-Manuel Miranda) considers.
It's an awesome trailer that gives us a glimpse at a roaring polar bear (book readers will immediately recognize this guy) as well as Lord Asriel staring up at ... something. We won't spoil it, but it's certainly giving us goosebumps. The Golden Compass is coming really soon.

His Dark Materials has not yet been given an official release date. Nevertheless, the new series is expected to premiere on HBO later this year.
