New His Dark Materials Trailer Puts The Focus On Dafne Keen's Lyra Belacqua

The new trailer for His Dark Materials is here and it confirms that Lyra Belacqua (Dafne Keen) is the key to changing the future and saving the world.

The trailer opens with Farder Coram (James Cosmo) declaring that there is an organization that is stealing children. This is followed by Lyra stating that her friend Roger has gone missing and she immediately sets out to find him.

The search for Roger is only the beginning. "Lyra has to make a journey," Dr. Carne says and Marisa Coulter (Ruth Wilson) agrees. "The child is destined to be important." But first, she needs to know where Lyra went and threatens the Master that she will destroy everything that matters.

In the meantime, Lyra is already heading North and hiring Lee Scoresby (Lin-Manuel Miranda) to help her. They also set off to find Iorik Byrnison while Mrs. Coulter ponders, "Who is Lyra Belacqua?"

The new trailer was released by BBC although the series is also set to premiere on HBO. It's an intriguing new trailer that confirms Lyra's importance in the entire show and only offers a glimpse of Lord Asriel (James McAvoy). Nevertheless, there is little doubt that they are two of the most important characters in the series.

The synopsis for His Dark Materials reads as follows:

His Dark Materials has not yet been given an official release date. However, the series is set to premiere on HBO and BBC later this year.
