Earlier this week, science fiction and pop culture fans were eager to learn that Evil Dead franchise star Bruce Campell had major plans with director Lee Cronin to develop a new movie in the wacky zombie film franchise.
Speaking in an interview with Empire in its Heroes issue, Ash the Evil Dead actor Bruce Campbell decided to open up about new developments of the new movie, Evil Dead Now. During his discussion with the entertainment news outlet, Ash let Empire in on some of the latest developments around the project.
Apparently, Sam Raimi had picked Lee Cronin for the Evil Dead movie because he knows that the filmmaker would do a marvelous job on the project. While there aren't that many details about the film, the report by Empire says that the movie might feature a female protagonist, perhaps the daughter of Ash himself.
"From this point forward, they kind of have to stand on their own. Which is fine. And liberating," says Ash actor David Campbell. "You could have different heroes, different heroines in this case. This one's gonna be a little more dynamic. We just want to keep the series current. And the mantra, really, is that our heroes and heroines are just regular people. That's what we're going to continue."
We hope that we'll get more details about Evil Dead Now in the weeks and days to come. It'd be great to know what the studio has planned for the movie – will it be a sequel, a prequel, a follow-up, or a direct reboot that refuses to acknowledge the rest of the films in the franchise?
Let's wait and see.
