New Archie Motion Comics Coming to Spotify

Before Riverdale appeared in the CW, fans were talking about the rebooted Archie comics written by comic book veteran Mark Waid. The series managed to mix realistic teenage angst with genuine fun storytelling, which led to plenty of critical acclaim and high sales. With Waid leaving and Secret Empire writer Nick Spencer slated to take over, Spotify of all things will pay tribute to that run with new motion comics.

These motion comics coming to Spotify will adapt the first six issues of Mark Waid's run, drawn by Saga artist Fiona Staples, Annie Wu, and Veronica Fish. It will be interesting to see how much the motion technology adds to the series, which many loved when it came out back in 2015.

Why Spotify of all platforms was chosen remains a mystery but since Archie Comics is trying to expand to other audiences, this makes some degree of sense. Whether it can convince the Riverdale fans to give comic books a chance is a whole other deal though but the attempt is a good one.

Fans can check out this new Archie series on Spotify now. It should be a fascinating experience and could end up being a ton of fun if done right.
