The stories of Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), Eleanor (Romona Young) and Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez) through love and life in high school are about to end in Never Have I Ever Season 4. Now, creators Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher shared the reason behind their decision to put the beloved Netflix series to a close.

The third season ended with a surprising cliffhanger that Devi was ready to sleep with Ben (Jaren Lewison). She had already decided to stay at Sherman Oaks High School instead of transferring to Shrubland school. So, in Never Have I Ever Season 4, Devi will still be dealing with her feelings for Ben and probably for Paxton (Darren Barnet), too.

The Decision to End the Never Have I Ever After Four Seasons

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Fisher and Kaling revealed why they decided to end Never Have I Ever after four seasons.

One of the main reasons is because the characters will be in their senior year next season and the creators can’t keep them in high school for the years to come.

Ending it this time will also give fans the satisfaction they want to see, making it natural by completing their high school stories during their senior year.

"The love triangle's not done," she stated. "In season 4, it continues onward. But I think the part that is done is seeing him as this unattainable dream of a hunk. He is no longer that, and they can be more like peers going forward."

The final season’s filming has reportedly wrapped up. However, there are no words yet when the new episodes drop on Netflix.
