Netflix Unveils First Look at Scooby-Doo in the Origins Series
With Scooby-Doo: Origins currently in production, Netflix has released the first look at the live-action version of Scooby-Doo in the upcoming series.
However, unlike the 2000s live-action movies where the character is CGI, the upcoming series will feature a real-life dog playing Scooby-Doo. Not only that, he will be introduced in his puppy stage.
The live-action version of puppy Scooby-Doo also has his iconic teal collar and has floppy ears that make him recognizable to viewers as the iconic fictional canine.
A teaser video was also released where Scooby-Doo is seen tracking a scent through the woods and stumbles upon Shaggy Rogers (played by Tanner Hagen). It concluded with a heartwarming first look at the live-action canine happily cradled in his new best friend's arms.
This is an exciting first look for fans since we got a confirmation that Scooby-Doo will be in his puppy form in the first season, and not only that, he looks very cute, which will be a big draw for the series when it premieres.
What to Expect in Scooby-Doo Origins
Scooby-Doo: Origins, which explores how the teens first teamed up, follows old friends Shaggy and Daphne during their final summer at camp. The two get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder.
With help from the pragmatic and scientific townie Velma and the strange but ever-so-handsome new kid Freddy, they set out to solve the case that’s pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.
The cast includes Mckenna Grace, Abby Ryder Fortson, Tanner Hagen, Maxwell Jenkins, and Paul Walter Hauser.
The project is being executive produced by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, as well as Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman (via Berlanti Productions), André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Adrienne Erickson (via Midnight Radio). Toby Haynes will also serve as an executive producer and direct the premiere episode.
So far, Netflix has set a 2027 release window for the series. Stay tuned for more news and updates in the coming months.
