Luffy and his crew's fans are in for a big treat, as a new report suggests Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece Season 2 may be released ahead of schedule.

Following the massive success of the first season, which debuted on August 31, 2023, production on the second season has been moving full speed ahead. In fact, reports indicate that filming was completed last year.

Now, it seems the Straw Hat pirates may sail to the Grand Line sooner than expected.

Netflix has casually shared updates about the highly anticipated new season of One Piece. However, in a recent post on TUDUM announcing its own One Piece LEGO sets and minifigures, the streamer accidentally teased the season’s release “later this year.”

“Ahoy, Straw Hats! The Lego Group, Netflix, and Tomorrow Studios are teaming up to bring you treasures you can cherish while you wait for new episodes of ONE PIECE, which arrive later this year,” a part of its announcement reads.

While no specific date has been revealed, this only heightens the excitement among fans, who are eagerly awaiting new episodes more than a year after the first season’s release.

Initially, the second season’s production faced significant delays due to the SAG-AFTRA strike in 2023, putting a lot of Hollywood projects to a halt.

Thankfully, its filming officially began on July 1, 2024, and reports indicated that it wrapped up in December 2024.

Actor Vincent Regan, who plays Monkey D. Garp, earlier claimed that Netflix is eyeing to release the new season in December 2025. However, other sources involved in the production have suggested a 2026 release instead.

However, with this latest update, it looks like Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hats will return before the year ends.

One Piece Season 2 is expected to follow Eiichiro Oda’s manga, delving deeper into his masterpiece’s universe.

The upcoming season will cover the remaining arc of the East Blue Saga, known as the Loguetown Arc, before diving into the second saga, Arabasta. This includes the Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape), Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island arcs.

In an interview with TUDUM, co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer Matt Owens revealed that fans will finally meet the live-action version of Dr. Kureha, portrayed by Katey Sagal, who will play a significant role in the story.

“When the Season 2 writers’ room got together, we knew how far we were going to get and that this character Dr. Kureha was going to be a big part of the season,” he said.

Several fan-favorite characters will also make appearances, including Chopper, as the Straw Hats finally venture into the Grand Line.

“The place that we were talking about all of Season 1, we’re in it now,” he continued.

Who are the Cast of Netflix’s One Piece Season 2?

Of course, the main cast will reprise their roles in One Piece Season 2, with Iñaki Godoy playing Monkey D. Luffy again, alongside Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp.

Additionally, several new characters will make their live-action debut, including notable additions like Joe Manganiello as Sir Crocodile and David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3.

While official details about One Piece Season 2 remain scarce, all signs indicate that it will be released earlier than expected. If this happens, it will be a great Christmas gift for fans.
