Netflix has canceled the hit spy drama series The Recruit starring Noah Centineo after airing two seasons.
The series returned with the highly-anticipated second season last January. Since then, fans have been waiting for news of the show's renewal and how they will continue Owen Hendricks' spy adventure. However, it looks like we won't see more of his missions anymore.
The Recruit Canceled by Netflix After 2 Seasons
Reports confirmed that Netflix has pulled the plug on The Recruit after two seasons.
There is no reason provided on why the streamer decided not to move forward with the potential third season of the spy drama, whether it's because of creative reasons, underwhelming viewership, or budget issues.
The show's second season notably found its way into the charts when it premiered on Netflix last January. It also has a loyal fanbase that kept the series in the consciousness of the streamer's global subscribers.
Colton Dunn, who played Lester Kitchens, weighed in on the show's cancellation on Threads where he expressed his sadness over the news.
"The Recruit has been cancelled yall. Such a bummer. I’ll share some pics and fun memories on IG but just wanted you to hear it from me. Thanks if you watched. I’m AVAILABLE NOW! Hire me for you tv story!!" he wrote.
What is The Recruit About?
The Recruit centers on Owen Hendricks (Centineo), a daredevil young attorney who leaps unprepared into the dangerous world of international espionage after he was recruited out of law school by the CIA.
Season 2 saw Owen pulled into a life-threatening espionage situation in South Korea, only to realize that the bigger threat just might be coming from inside the Agency.
The cast includes Centineo, Teo Yoo, Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Kristian Bruun, Kaylah Zander, Maddie Hasson, Angel Parker, Vondie Curtis-Hall, James Purefoy, Felix Solis, Brooke Smith, and Nathan Fillion.
