Sweet Home is not your usual monster series. There's more to these monsters than what they look like. Not to mention, there are certain terms you need to know. One example is neohumans in Sweet Home. What are they?

We first encounter the term neohuman in Sweet Home Season 2's trailer. Pyeon Sang-wook (played by Lee Jin-wook) convinces Cha Hyun-soo (played by Song Kang) to help look for others like them. But what is a neohuman?

If you've been following the series since it first came out, the monsters in Sweet Home are not infected by a virus but by a curse. Those who get infected have to struggle with the curse internally so that it doesn't overpower them.

Once they get overpowered by the curse, however, they become what they have truly desired. And often, they turn into harmful beings that hunt humans.

This is where Hyun-soo comes into the picture. The first season saw Hyun-soo barely changing into his monster form. But since he desired to die, his monsterization doesn't happen since the monster in him won't allow it.

This leads to him becoming a neohuman or an infected human that has not completely turned into a monster. Although they have monstrous qualities, they are still conscious enough to keep their human side alive.

The military also calls the neohumans in Sweet Home special infectees, a term that Sang-wook hates.

Like Hyun-soo, Sang-wook has turned into a neohuman in Sweet Home Season 2. This gives us hope that he is still alive in Sweet Home.

Unfortunately, Sang-wook's monsterization has changed his behavior too. In the previous season, he was doing his best to protect people around him. Now that he is a neohuman, he has turned into someone who is trying his best to survive.

In a pre-release trailer released by Netflix, we see Hyun-soo and Sang-wook making a compromise. Before one can be made, however, Sang-wook apologizes for the wound on Hyun-soo's chest.

Sang-wook also tells Hyun-soo to find a new purpose and not care about saving humans. The two then discuss the idea of going back to save the other neohumans who are locked up in Bamseom.
