To recap, during the season 21 finale of NCIS, Jessica and Jimmy ended their relationship after the former was offered the job to become the Camp Pendleton REACT instructor.

Jessica will also find herself in a new location as she has to be situated in a different part of the country as a result of her new job.

Despite not being a core member of the NCIS team anymore, Katrina Law will still be a series regular and we will continue to see where Jessica is up to now in the aftermath and how she will be handling her new life.

As for Jimmy, it is a bigger question since he also has to adjust to his new life now that Jessica is no longer around him both personally and professionally.

Their relationship has become one of the biggest couples in the show's 22-season run and fans are hoping that we will still be able to see more of them in the future despite the shakeup.

Will Jessica and Jimmy Get Back Together?

The biggest question right now for fans is whether Jessica and Jimmy will get back together again when NCIS returns for its 22nd season.

In a recent interview, showrunner Steven Binder teased what they have in store for the couple's future when the series returns.

Fortunately, despite already breaking up, fans can expect an interaction between Jessica and Jimmy during the premiere. However, they won't see them get back together.

"It’s months later. Knight’s on the West Coast [in her new job as chief REACT training officer]. They’ve settled into the new normal of not being together. Jimmy is dating. We’re going to learn a little bit about that," Binder explained.

"He’s been busy as a single man; that will make an appearance in the most inopportune time. [In the premiere,] Knight encounters a very serious problem involving her skills as a hostage negotiator. There’s certain things you never do, and that’s what [she] does."

The showrunner continued, "As a result, her and Jimmy are going to get a chance to have part two of the conversation that we didn’t see in the finale. There’s a Part 3 to that conversation that we’ll see in Episode 4 when World War III is starting."

While it might be disappointing that they won't resume their relationship, at the very least, we will see more interactions between them and learn more about the aftermath of their breakup.
