Star Wars was given the chance to revisit the past through the Disney+ shows and while projects like Obi-Wan Kenobi didn't exactly hit the mark on longtime fans, it still allowed the franchise to tie up any loose ends from the prequel trilogy.

Speaking of the divisive Ewan McGregor-led series, it turns out that Obi-Wan Kenobi nearly brought back an integral part of the Star Wars mythos in Padme Amidala, played by Natalie Portman in three films — The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith.

According to a recent report, Padme's supposed return to a galaxy far, far away ended up getting scrapped.

Appearing on Jon Rocha' The Hot Mic, industry insider Jeff Sneider claims that the Oscar-winning actress actually filmed at least one scene for Obi-Wan Kenobi which unfortunately didn't make the cut.

Sneider added that Portman shot the said cameo while also working on the MCU's fourth Thor film. He reported: "She previously did shoot some stuff for the 'Obi-Wan [Kenobi]' show while working on '[Thor]: Love and Thunder,' but it didn't make the final cut, so it's too early to know..."

The scooper didn't disclose what led to Disney's decision to remove Padme's supposed scene but it doesn't look like it'll ever see the light of day.

Natalie Portman Down to Reprising Padme Amidala Role in Future Star Wars Project

Of course, it's best to take this report with a death star-sized grain of salt despite Sneider's great track record when it comes to scoops but the idea doesn't sound too farfetched, especially considering how vital Padme's role was to the prequel trilogy.

If anything, Padme's absence in the 2022 series shocked many as they were hoping to see her in some shape or form.

It's worth mentioning though that while Portman previously expressed her openness to reprise the role that pretty much launched her career to the stratosphere, the actress claims that no one has reached out to her regarding a potential Star Wars comeback.

So far, the future of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series seems doubtful, with Lucasfilm reportedly having no plans to give it a season 2 renewal despite the cast and crew's hopes.
