Oscar-winning actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are developing a movie centering on Muppets fan-favorite Miss Piggy.
It's been more than 10 years since the Muppets made their last appearance on the big screen, and fans have been wondering whether there will be plans to bring the beloved Jim Henson characters to the theatrical space again with a new cinematic reboot. There were reportedly attempts in the last few years, but none of them have been successful.
Now, it looks like it will all change as Miss Piggy is eyeing to get her own movie with two A-listers attached.
Is Miss Piggy Getting Her Own Movie?

A movie centering on The Muppets' fan-favorite character, Miss Piggy, is currently in the works. Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are producing the project with Oh Mary! star Cole Escola, who is writing the screenplay.
The exciting announcement was made during Lawrence's recent interview on the Las Culturistas podcast hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers.
When the actress was asked whether she and Stone are also planning to star in the film alongside Miss Piggy, she responded, "I think so. We have to... It’s f***ed up [that we haven’t done a movie together]."
So far, the plot details regarding the Miss Piggy movie are still under wraps, and whether the other Muppet characters will also show up.
If the project ends up moving forward, it will be the first Muppet movie to make its way to the big screen since Muppets Most Wanted in 2014. It will also be the first Muppet movie that will focus on a particular character, rather than being an ensemble.
What is the Future of The Muppets Franchise?
As Disney is trying to resurrect The Muppets franchise for the big screen, they are also working on a revival special of The Muppet Show that will be released on Disney+.
The one-off event will be released in 2026, just in time for the franchise's 50th anniversary. It is also being seen as a backdoor pilot that could potentially help launch a new reboot of the original series.
Veteran Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel will star in the special. Sabrina Carpenter will also make an appearance as the guest star and serve as an executive producer.
Seth Rogen and his producing partner Evan Goldberg are also attached to serve as executive producers, while Alex Timbers serves as director. No details yet on its release window for the planned 2026 drop.
