It looks like fans are close to getting what they have been asking for since the season finale of Star Trek: Discovery. Michelle Yeoh is currently in talks to reprise her role in a Discovery spinoff series.
There have been plans to expand on Star Trek: Discovery with several new shows. It was even reported that CBS All Access was already considering a series based on Yeoh's Captain Philippa Georgiou although producers admitted that the idea has not yet been pursued. That is, until now. According to Deadline, Yeoh is currently discussing the possibility of returning as Emperor Georgiou.
There is little doubt that there are several ideas to pursue when it comes to the character. After all, it was already teased that Emperor Georgiou is being recruited to the mysterious Section 31, the secret division of Starfleet. Some believe that Yeoh's spinoff show will follow the Emperor's new adventures with the organization.
Although we're crossing our fingers on a Georgiou spinoff show, CBS All Access might also have some trouble getting Yeoh to sign on. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 actress is expected to work on the sequel to the wildly successful Crazy Rich Asians and might be too busy to take on a leading role in a series. Nevertheless, we're hoping the studio can work around Yeoh's schedule just so we can see more of Emperor Georgiou.
Yeoh is expected to return as Emperor Georgiou in the second season of Star Trek: Discovery, which will air on CBS All Access on January 17, 2019.
