The first trailer for Michael B. Jordan's remake of The Thomas Crown Affair has finally been released. How will it be different from the previous versions?
Following his Oscar win for Sinners earlier this year, fans are looking forward to his next movie, which will be the modern reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair. Aside from starring as the titular character, he also serves as the director and co-producer.
Given that it will be the second remake of the 1968 classic, some are wondering how it will be different from the past versions.
Michael B. Jordan's The Thomas Crown Affair Releases First Trailer
Amazon MGM Studios has finally released the first trailer for Michael B. Jordan's remake of The Thomas Crown Affair ahead of its theatrical release early next year.
It gave audiences an early tease of the Oscar winner's modern take on the classic story that originated in the 1968 film starring Steve McQueen and was remade in 1999 starring Pierce Brosnan.
The trailer highlighted Jordan's Thomas Crown as he executed a series of high-stakes stunts across sleek skylines, dramatic landscapes, and heavily guarded museums that proved no match for his calculated thievery.
In the voiceover, Crown reflected on a lifetime of risk-taking, describing the unexpected thrill and effortless precision of his latest score, even as he warned that his work was far from over. His introspective commentary played over a montage of heart-pounding action, from scaling skyscrapers and skydiving to pushing a racecar past its limits.
As the sneak peek also suggested, high-stakes theft was not the only focus for Crown. Fleeting glimpses of Adria Arjona’s investigator revealed a formidable counterpart, laying the groundwork for a sultry, intellectual game of chess between the two.
Aside from Jordan and Arjona, the upcoming film will also star Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart. It will release in theaters on March 5, 2027.
How the 2027 Movie Will Be Different From Previous Versions?

In a November 2025 interview, Jordan shared how his version of The Thomas Crown Affair will be different from the previous iterations.
He noted that the 2027 film will not be a "reboot," and he described it as a reimagining of the story for the modern audience.
"I didn’t want a reboot. I wanted a reimagination. The first two films were about rich white guys stealing for fun. That doesn’t land today. Ours is more personal. The stakes are higher. Still got the fashion, romance," the actor-director said. "Ruth [E. Carter] is the queen. We’ve got an incredible cast — Adria [Arjona], Kenneth [Branagh], Pilou [Asbæk], Danai [Gurira]."
Jordan also explained why he decided to do a new version, almost three decades after the Pierce Brosnan remake was released.
"It didn’t have too much baggage. It was just enough time and a gap between generations that I felt like it was almost an original story without its IP, but it’s not James Bond with crazy expectations, where no matter what I do, people are going to criticize it," he said.
