Melissa McCarthy will be ‘Buying Her Ticket’ for Ghostbusters 2020

Fans rejoiced when it was announced that Sony would be making a faithful follow-up to the original Ghostbusters movies, but it was met with resistance from GB reboot star Leslie Jones as well as director Paul Feig. Melissa McCarthy, who also starred in the reboot, is very supportive of the upcoming film, however.

Talking to Entertainment Tonight, McCarthy said, "I talked to [director Jason Reitman] about it, he's just always had this idea. I'm all for it. I say like, ‘Tell the story.' I'm for anybody who's making movies."

After news of Ghostbusters 3 came out, actress Leslie Jones has cried foul when it seemed like the franchise they were building up suddenly got cancelled. McCarthy, on the other hand, only had positive things to say about this revisiting of the franchise. She says,"I think there's a million stories to be told. [Jason Reitman's] a really, really good filmmaker and a really good storyteller, so I will be there buying my ticket… I'm all for it."

While there are certainly people out there who are hating on Ghostbusters 2016 for the wrong reason, I personally thought the movie wasn't good at all—and it had nothing to do with the cast being all women. I was actually very optimistic walking in, waiting for everyone to be proved wrong, but the film was just a huge mess of forgettable jokes and cheap humor. It was such a waste seeing that the cast had a lot of potential.

For now, we'll just have to wait and see if this Ghostbusters 2020 film will make up for 2016. Catch the movie in theaters the summer of 2020.
