Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been estranged from her family. However, her dad, Thomas Markle Sr., believed the Duke of Sussex could help him reconcile with his daughter.

In 7NewS Spotlight's special titled The Markles, Meghan's family reunited — her father, Thomas Sr., brother Thomas Markle Jr. and sister Samantha Markle. They shared throwback photos and footage of the Duchess of Sussex growing up.

Thomas Sr. also spoke about his relationship with his estranged daughter. The former lighting director admitted that he wanted them to work out their differences, and he believed Prince Harry could play the role of a peacemaker.

Meghan's father said he wanted them to make amends before it's "too late." Looking back at their relationship, Thomas Sr. said Meghan loved him.

Markle had reportedly stopped answering her dad's calls when he decided to cancel his attendance at her royal wedding because he underwent heart surgery days before Meghan's big day and was still recovering at the time. He admitted that he was hurt that Meghan didn't see him after her wedding.

What Did Prince Harry Say About Meghan Markle, Thomas Markle Sr.'s Relationship?

The Duke of Sussex subtly discussed Meghan's estrangement from her dad in his book Spare. Prince Harry mentioned that he witnessed Markle's grief and claimed it was similar to what he experienced when he lost his mom.

"I knew my way around grief and there was no mistaking it. This was pure grief. She was mourning the loss of her father," Prince Harry wrote.

The host who interviewed Thomas Sr. noted that it sounded as if he was dead. The Markle patriarch admitted that it felt like that.
